Map My Tracks OutFront 2.0 is true multi-sport high performance GPS computer that’s the perfect companion to use on bike rides, runs or walks as well as just about any other outdoor pursuit. Map My Tracks OutFront 2.0 is now available to download from the App Store and there is a try-before-you-buy free app to give a go as well. The free version is limited to saving only one activity at at time and carries adverts so if you need to record more activities the the pro app will serve you best.
Behind the scenes the Map My Tracks team has been working hard on this version to make sure that it reflects how you use Map My Tracks and that it provides you with all the features you’ve been asking for. There’s more work to do but with this version we have the platform for build some great new tools with. This app is the result of the comments, feedback and support from the Map My Tracks community and we thank you all for letting us know what’s important to you. Your help has been invaluable and we can’t wait to hear what you think and see all your activities. Keep the comments flowing and we’ll do our best to develop the app even further.

Track you rides, runs or walks
Clear, concise stats of your current activity as well as a grand total of your effort with a log of all the activities carried out and recorded. Speed, pace, calories, heart rate, distance and much more give you all the stats you need to measure your performance and progress.
Review and analyse activity data
A detailed breakdown of your activity lets you analyse and review how you got on. The activity replay provides second by second stats of your activity to better judge your effort.
View charts and 3D maps of routes
Charts of the route profile, heart rate and speed provide more information to compare how you got on. When watching live activities by other Map My Tracks the 3D map mode give a sense of what they are doing along with live telemetry including their current speed, distance and the elevation they are covering.
Comment, share and like activities
Read and comment on your friend’s activities and help keep them motivated and if you don’t feel like commented then tap the like button to show that you’re impressed. Facebook and Twitter sharing, along with email exporting, let you keep your social networks up to date with your activities. Auto tweets when starting and stopping an activity let you broadcast your activity live on Twitter for your friends to follow as you’re out and about.
Browse and follow friends activities
Start following your friend’s activities and have them display on your Home Wall so you don’t miss out on any action. Public profiles showcase your activities along with who’s following you and who you are following. The Activity Wall can be configured to show streams of activities by type, user, location, tag or all of the latest activities. The Activity Wall is kept in sync with your website profile so if you add a stream on your phone you’ll find it in your online Explore Wall as well.
Just like a personal training rooms the team rooms provide a breakdown of each activity with distance, pace, calories, duration and activity type from all team members. It’s easy to see who’s working well and what sort of activities they are doing. All in one place.
As with all training rooms you can browse the activities by activity type across this month, year or since the team started. The training room dashboard summaries the team’s total distances, durations, calories and activities.
There are individual totals for each statistic along with options to filter any tagged activities.
We’ll be adding more tools into the personal and team training rooms over the next few weeks so keep a watch on the training rooms to see what’s next.

Collectively, there has been 18387 kilometres ridden with the winner riding an impressive 1766 kilometres alone. That’s over 1000 miles in a month! In the end, two riders reached that milestone with everyone contributing to a great total.
Huge congratulations go to all of the participants for the impressive effort involved in completing so many miles.

We can’t thank you all enough for taking part in what is the first of many challenges we have planned. It’s been fascinating to watch the challenge unfold through March and we hope that everyone has enjoyed putting in some early season miles and made some friends along the way.
We’ll be giving you a rest through April but if you are up for another challenge it won’t be long until May is here.

The training room lets you analyze your activities in more detail to better understand your performance. We’ve made it easy to see the useful stuff like distances, calories and durations along with a breakdown of your activity types.
As we found the training room so useful ourselves we have decided launch them a little sooner than planned. There are plenty more features planned for the training room but even as it stands it great tool to help understand, organise and monitor how you’re getting on.
You can find your own training room from your ‘My activities’ pages. The sidebar has links into the training room which starts by showing all your activities for the current month.
The training room dashboard features a breakdown of the core statistics from your activities this month together with a range of options to browse previous months and years. A summary display the data for each time period so now it’s easy to see how many miles you did in 2010 or the amount of calories burned last month plus much more.

We’ve teamed up with the Bike Hugger crew to bring a unique blend of bike bling, tech buzz and social biking to this year’s proceedings. It’s a new experience that brings together the buzz of SXSW, biking culture and technology for those at the event and others that couldn’t make it.
We’re inviting everyone to ride along with us at the SXSW Mobile Social on March 15 in Austin and broadcast their rides live on Map My Tracks. Riders can share their progress live on the SXSW Mobile Social Hub on Map My Tracks that includes all the latest activities, tweet and buzz from around the event.
If you can’t make it to Austin don’t fret, you can show some solidarity by getting out on your bike anywhere in the world on March 15 and uploading it to the SXSW Mobile Social Hub by tagging it ‘SXSW’.
All SXSW Mobile Social Hub participants will earn themselves a coveted Mobile Social badge for their profile.
First get hold of a Map My Tracks app for your phone. Once installed just start an activity tagged with ‘sxsw’ and start riding. To let people follow live make it ‘Online public’. It’s that simple.
All rides tagged ‘sxsw’ will get included on the SXSW Mobile Social Hub for others to follow or replay later. Online spectators can get a live rider’s eye view of the event through Google Street View.

The challenge is simple: ride hard and ride long in March and be in with a chance to win a genuine Team Sky jersey signed by the pro riders. The winner will be the person that logs the most miles ridden in March here on Map My Tracks.

To participate in this challenge simply upload evidence of your rides to Map My Tracks and tag them ‘MarchMiles’. All tagged rides will be featured on the MarchMiles hub that provides a running total of everyone’s mileage so you’ll be able to keep track on what you need to do to win.
The challenge is free to enter and open to anyone that has a bike and can upload their rides to Map My Tracks. Qualifying rides will be any that are done in March 2011 and tagged with ‘MarchMiles’. Rides can be uploaded and tagged directly from a Map My Tracks mobile apps or imported from Garmin devices and any that output a GPX file. You’ll need a free account on Map My Tracks to participate so if you don’t have one already sign up now or log in with your Facebook account to get started.
We’ll be announcing the winner during the first week in April after all the miles have been checked. We’ll be making sure that only cycle rides are taken into account so don’t be tempted to jump in the car instead.

You can start a team for just about anything you want. It might be to:
Although activities form the basis of a team it doesn’t stop there. Teammates can start discussions, add notes and videos to share their experiences with others.
Creating a team is easy. Give your team a name and away you go. You can customize your team with a logo and link to external websites.
If you create the team you automatically become the team captain. This means that you authorize who is in your team. You’ll get email notifications when someone wishes to join the team.
Once you become part of a team all of your activities will automatically be included in the team profile. Your teammates will be able to see how you’re getting on and comment on each activity. All of the activities from each teammate will be added to the team training room.
Along with the latest activities each team training room features a weekly tally of the activities stats including distances, calories, duration, activities done and a team calendar. For those that like to show off there’s also a leader board featuring the overall distances from each team member.
Notes, discussions and videos can be added by any teammate. These only ever appear within the Team training room and teammates are the only people who can contribute and comment on these.
If you’ve spotted a team that you want to join you can either be invited to join it by an existing team member or make a request to the team captain to join. Team captains must approve each member before they can participate in a team training room.
Every team training room comes with its own team hub on Map My Tracks. Teams Hubs showcase the activities carried out from each team members and include any live activities that are taking place. You can see the Team Sky pro cycling hub here.
Teams are open and ready to use so go and start your first team. We have plenty more features planned for teams but do let us know what you’d like to see included in your team.
Notes are a great way to add short messages for yourself and your followers. Just like each public activity, notes are visible on your profile page and also on your followers home pages for them to comment on.
There’s no character limit on notes so feel free to write as much as you like. Basic HTML is supported to help add some formating to your posts if you need it.
Videos can be added from any service that lets you embed their videos. Each video added will appear in your public profile and also on your followers home page.
