The New Albany Symphony Orchestra is proud to present the 3rd Annual New Albany Independence Day 5k Run & Walk on Saturday, July 4, 2015! The event will offer a 20 Yard Kids Crawl, 200 Yard Kids FUN Run and a 5k which will have a Run & Walk Division. The races will begin and finish in New Albany's beautiful Market Square starting at 8:00am for the Kids Races and at 8:15am for the 5k Races. This event is a staple in the New Albany community and attracts nearly 1,000 people every year! All proceeds from the race will benefit the New Albany Symphony Orchestra and Lifecare Alliance. Come show your support and help us make 2015 the largest race to date for the New Albany Symphony Orchestra! The New Albany Symphony Orchestra (NASO), now in its seventh season, is a community orchestra bringing music to life in New Albany, Ohio, and proud to call the Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts home. Founded in 2007 by New Albany resident and violist Heather Garner and founding conductor Luis Biava, the New Albany Symphony Orchestra is comprised of over 120 community, student, and professional musicians from all over the Columbus metro area. NASO was designed by its founders to be a true community orchestra, in which a unique model of talented students, professional mentors and community musicians would combine and work together on one stage. NASO’s annual four-concert-series provides high level performances for our audiences and free educational outreach in our schools. Our annual student concerto competition attracts students from across the state of Ohio and our nationally recognized guest artists position New Albany on the map as a center for artistic excellence. Some of our past guest artists include Grammy award winning cellist David Finckel, world-class pianist Jon Kimura Parker, Pulitzer Prize nominee Augusta Read Thomas, and one of the top 5 violinists in the world – superstar Hilary Hahn.
