About this event
On Monday the 24th of April, there will be at least 18 men taking on the challenge to walk 96km (the length of the Kokoda track) in 24hrs, finishing by walking into dawn service at Nobby’s. We’ll be trekking a 15km loop from the Junto and around Glenrock, returning each time to refuel etc.
After speaking with Invictus Australia, we knew this was the right way to go. They do great work in supporting veterans and their families’ physical and mental health by connecting with the community through sport and recreation, which we're hugely passionate about. We're excited about doing something hard with our mates, showing people they're more capable than they think, and hopefully raising enough money to help deliver programs that veterans feel can help them integrate into society.
This event was developed to help men connect with something bigger than themselves. Our pillars are physical, connection, and adventure, so this challenge fits squarely into that. The Anzac's values are courage, sacrifice, endurance, and mateship. These are values we also hold close to us.
Men aren't great at asking for help, and veterans are no different. In fact, asking for help is very rare in this community.
Because walking 96km isn't hard enough, FOR EVERY $1 RAISED, WE WILL ALSO BE DOING 1 PUSH-UP.
