C2C Challenge

Whitehaven, United Kingdom
20 May - 22 May, 2017

About this event

A superstar team of 6 cyclists are taking on the C2C challenge, including the ascent of Whinlatter Pass. **** WHY**** They're doing it as a sponsored ride to raise funds for Dignity to help fund the work they do primarily in Africa. This October is Dignity's 10th birthday. In the last 10 years we have come into contact with thousands of people mainly in rural African villages and at latest count have just over 450 groups running in those villages. You can read more about some of the fantastic stories of transformed lives and communities that we have seen on our website at www.dignityonline.org.uk ****WHAT**** “Covering 140 miles, your journey begins in the port town of Whitehaven, Cumbria before finishing on the picturesque shores of Tynemouth. In between you’ll pass through the dramatic solitude of the northern Lake District, enjoy the verdant Eden Valley and climb up into the Pennines, also known as the ‘roof of England’, where you’ll experience sensational panoramic views that make the climbing worthwhile! From here you’ll then explore historic mining villages and make your way along old railway lines before heading to the bright lights of Newcastle…and onto the coast. Best ridden from West to East, you’ll take advantage of longer downhill sections and prevailing winds to help you along the way. Don’t forget to dip your back tyre into the Irish Sea before you start and your front in the North Sea once you’ve completed your journey – it’s a C2C tradition!” ~ As described by Saddle Skedaddle
