Map My Tracks on Symbian OS phones
Optimising Map My Tracks
Setting application preferences
On most phones it is possible to set default authorisation preferences to make sure that Map My Tracks works best during an activity session. The sequence below may vary from device to device but the instructions highlight the most common processes.
Nokia (Series 40/Symbian/S60) preferences
To get the best out of Map My Tracks it is recommended that the application is allowed to use certain facilities on the phone as default. This will help to ensure that an activity session is not interrupted unnecessarily.
To set the correct preferences go to the phone’s home screen then do the following:
» Press the Menu key to open the main phone menu.
» Using the navigation keys browse to Settings and click to open.
» Using the navigation keys browse to Data mgr. and click to open.
» Using the navigation keys browse to App. mgr. and click to open.
» Using the navigation keys scroll to Map My Tracks then click the left soft key and select Open.
Set the default permissions for Map My Tracks here. It is recommended that the following settings are applied for optimum use:
» Access point - set to the best internet enabled access point available for your network.
» Network access - set to Always allowed.
» Connectivity - set to Always allowed.
» Read user data - set to Always allowed.
» Edit user data - set to Always allowed.
» Positioning - set to Always allowed.
The Map My Tracks application preferences are now optimised. These settings will ensure that it is possible for Map My Tracks to reconnect in the event that the network connection is interrupted in any way and that the activity session can continue.
