Looks like you have some reasonably consistent split times for this run. What would you consider to be a good pace?

Reasonable pacing, but a bit slow as I’ve not been running for four weeks and am carrying a bit of xmas weight.

First 1.5miles of this are tough to do at speed - uphill and a few busy roads to cross.

Hi! As I am watching your run the speed is jumping up and down. Like you were constantly braking and accelerating. I know this is a limitation of GPS. I wonder what information you can gain when the speed quickly changes from 4 to 8.5 mph and back.

Maybe an average should be displayed for the last 10 seconds or more.

Anyway, you maintained a pretty nice pace even on water. :)

This is a really great service, congratulations for the developers!

I find the splits most useful - and the average speeds. Your idea on average for last 10s is a good one.

I’m pleased the water pace is consistent - I do need some swimming practice once in a while!

You are right. The splits are absolutely useful.

Does the inaccuracy of GPS cause any problems in measuring the overall distance? I mean, GPS may detect a zig-zagged line when you are actually running in a straight line. In the end this may mean longer distance and higher speed than reality. Are you filtering this “noise” somehow or is this difference so small that it is unnecessary?

Presenting the average speed to iron out short-term fluctuations in the speed will be addressed very soon.

On the “zig zag” effect that can sometimes happen, overall it doesn’t affect total distance, as the variations are random so even themselves out over a track.

From some tests I’ve done over 5 - 10mile tracks, there’s no significant variation against distance measured on mapping tools using detailed point to point lines and the tracks measured using GPS on Map My Tracks.

Thanks! Sorry for the stupid question.

I really like this whole idea and the design is great too. I am looking forward to using it.
