Hi there

I’ve just bought a SPOT satellite tracker and hoped to use it to plot my whereabouts on my personal website. Has anyone used this device with mapmytracks? Are they compatible or is mapmytracks only for use with standard mobile phones?

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon, I’m afraid that SPOT is not compatible with Map My Tracks. Have you considered using your mobile phone for plotting your whereabouts or are you out of mobile phone range when you want to use it?

If you can use your phone there are a number of different ways that you can update your location on your website. To find out more about this go to http://www.mapmytracks.com/profile/share/

You can create an account with Yahoo Fireeagle, share your spot data with the fireeagle account and then create an account with dipity.com and either share that page or embed it in an iframe on your own page. It’s a lot easier than it sounds. I was able to do it.
