We have extended the range of phones that Map My Tracks supports. At present Nokia, Sony Ericsson and some Samsung, Motorola, Siemens, Pansonic, Lenovo, HTC and LG phones are supported. Map My Tracks also works with Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 but at present phones with QWERTY keypads are not fully supported. We are working on a release for these handsets. Watch this space.

I’m in the US, and have a Samsung SCH-U410 running on the Verizon network.

I attempted to download utilizing my phone’s browser by going to http://www.mapmytracks.com/install/. I tried both the Secured & Unsecured downloads, and got errors on each that would not allow me to download the application.

Help?

You may be suffering a permissions problem but can you let me know what the error message was?

Regardless of whether it was the signed or unsigned version, the error messages I received were:

First attempt: Bad mime type. Attempted to load unsupported file type.

Second attempt: Network error

I can’t connect my cell to my computer, as I don’t have a cord that will allow me to. Do I need to download something else before this will work, or is this fruitless right now?

It looks as though your phone does not support the installation of Java applications over the air. We have successfully installed Map My Tracks on Samsung mobile phones using the Samsung desktop suite, but you will need to either purchase a data cable to connect the phone to your computer, or use Bluetooth which will require your computer to be Bluetooth enabled.
