I have an HTC Touch Dual with Esmertec Jbed Build ID: 20070822.1.1 and an external GPS bluetooth reciever that works very well with TomTom already installed.

I tried to install “mapmytracks” but fails displaying the message:

“....javax.microedition.io.connector.bluetooth.client is not available on this device. - 58
Please contact your operator for more information”

Can any1 help me?

Thanks!

Hi,
It looks as though the Java on your phone does not support access to bluetooth devices directly. However, it is possible to get Map My Tracks to work using a manual setup in which you manually point the application at the COM port associated with your GPS device.

But before any of that, we need to get it to install successfully…

We have created JAD file that that does not request the bluetooth permission. Point your phones browser at http://www.mapmytracks.com/version/1.3.1/MapMyTracks_NBT.jad and see if that works.

Thanks for trying Map My Tracks,
Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob,

I’ve tried to install mapmytracks with the new .jad from the phone browser but the internet connection aborts.

Now, I’m trying to install copying the new .jad file and the .jar from the computer to the mobile, and launching it directly on to the device. The process goes on but at the end it’s abort with this message (note.. it’s translated from italian):

“Unable to intall MapMyTracks.
General information from Web site
and the file MIDlet not coincide. - 53
Contact your MIDlet provider for
more information.”

Can i use the same .jar file or there is another problem?

Thanks!

antonio

With that file provided in this thread, this error happens:

MapMyTracks cannot be installed because critical information between the website and the application file does not match. - 53

Hi antonio, Jacob, Instinct2010, Taz,
It seems that there is a overarching lack of bluetooth support on Windows Mobile based Java implementations. However, there is a new version of Esmertec’s Jbed, but it is unclear whether it has a full implementation of Bluetooth at this time: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407667
Try installing this version with the original jad file.

Hope this helps,
Rob

I’ve tried with Esmertec Jbed 20080428.2.1...but… same problem! Sigh!…

I hope in a new release of mapmytracks… I hope in a new no-java release!

Bye!
