Just registered and eager to use MMT. However I’m in a position to buy a new phone. Have the Palm Treo right now. (No GPS, and the Palm OS) I would like a few suggestions as to which phones work well with the Java based applications the MapMyTracks uses. Internal GPS, External GPS? A list would be very helpful here. I really don’t want to spend 500 bucks. I’m in the Backcountry alot and Kayaking. I use Sprint as my network.

I am going to upgrade my service as soon as I have a sucussful test of MMT.

Just lookng for an excuse to buy an new toy also. :-)

Any assistance would be awesome. Thanks.

Would it be possible to start a thread with a list of all phones tested and supported, including which network they are on. Tested and confirmed compatible GPS units would also be good.

My particular interest is, has anyone got a T-mobile Vario II, on T-mobile Flex25 with web’n’walk, working using a CPIT Bluetooth GPS unit?

Excellent piece of software, congratulation!
To make it even better, I would suggest exporting tracks complete of elevation and time reference data.

minimizing MMT stops timing on K800i?

Hi I have been using SE k800i with external GPS (garmin mobile 10)
During running I wanted to minimize MMT and switch to Media Player to listen to my favourite songs. The problem is that seconds later I realized that MMT switched itself off. The workaround is to keep MMT in front and minimize the Media Player but it has the potential danger of pushing accidentally a button that would stop the timing. Anyway I did this and tried to avoid touching any buttons that made it impossible for me to check my interim results, which was bad.

What I would really happy to see would be:
1., being able to minimize MMT so it runs in the background OR special button combination for lighting up the display during running to see interim results. I stopped the meter many times accidentally when trying to lighting up the display before.
2., special button combination to start/pause/stop/resume timing
3., Alert sounds after pre-configured time/distance/map-point

Real Time Track display on phone

I find that MapMyTracks is just what I need for my bushwalking. Is it possible that the track also realtime display on my phone? When I do the bushwalking, those areas I visit are usually bushland and on the map they are just large area of empty space. It will be much helpful if the track is realtime on the phone.

“Standby mode” with Bluetooth GPS receivers

Hi,

I would be happy if the Java application could connect to the external GPS receiver without actually starting the tracking. The reason is that in certain conditions it takes my receiver several minutes to find the position. Therefore, I would like to connect it to the application in advance so that later I can start tracking at anytime quickly. Without connection my GPS receiver switches itself off after a few minutes.

While not tracking, the application could still display the position, speed or even the map. By the way, it would also be nice to be able to turn the map off completely. I am planning to use MapMyTracks primarily for trainings and I know my usual routes pretty well :) so downloading the map is often just a waste of bandwidth. Not to mention that I usually run out of the map before it is downloaded completely. Either my connection is too slow or I am too fast. :)

I must mention that I find the design of the application very nice and it is also easy to use.

Best regards,
Zsolt
