Can MapMyTracks Be Kept Live For The Tour Down Under?

We would really like the Map My Tracks server to stay up for the Tour Down Under Schedule . Stages 1 -6 from 17 January to 22 January finishing in the period ranging between 2.30 pm - 3.15 pm Adelaide time which is UTC/GMT +10:30 hours. The server is usually down for back ups at this time. Could back up schedules be changed for these days please? We expect to be tracking GreenEDGE and UniSA teams. This is the opening UCCI World Tour Event for 2012 and gets a lot of attention so hopefully it is worth your while. GreenEdge has riders you previously tracked as part of Team Sky. If the schedules are not changed we can track the start of the races but will miss the finish.

We have been using MapMyTracks with professional cyclists. They are particularly interested in power and it’s great to see power data coming up live on MapMyTracks. We’ve had some good responses however the server going down for backups mid afternoon Australian time causes problems.

We also expect to be tracking GreenEDGE and perhaps some other teams in the Bay Cycling Classic 2012 from 1 January 2012. For stage 1 the women start at 6.00pm and the men at 7.00pm Melbourne time which is UTC/GMT +11:00 hours . This is after the usual shut down time so will be OK but in stages 2-4 the women start at 1.40pm and the men at 2.30pm. The women’s race will probably finish while the server is down and the men’s will probably start while it is down though we have noticed some variation. Could we alter the shut down time for these events also?

Exported data in GPX, CSV or KML format does not include power or heart rate data. We are uploading the data live from My Tracks using the Avocado MyTracks Bridge app. We can see it on MapMyTracks but can’t recover this data from MapMyTracks We can only get the data by exporting it from MyTracks which is labour intensive and means we have to recover the handsets from the riders to get this data.

Can the exported data include power, cadence and heart rate?

Howdy. Luv MMT but a bit bummed that there’s no MMT app for Android. Options for live recording to MMT from an Android phone are resource intensive (Orux Maps) and too broad in scope. I want to make my own LITE app to create a new MMT activity, send live positional data and end the activity. Clean and simple, no graphics.

Any way to get addresses, formats, protocols from you?

Thanks much,

I’m having a hankering for a bluetooth heart rate monitor so I can get properly anoraky about my bpm whilst exercising. I use an Android device and MyTracks to do the tracking and it has the function to pair with the Zephyr HRM belt (can’t recall the name). It’s rather pricey and Polar do something similar for less - but MyTracks may or may not support it.

Anyway, we keep hearing that an Android version of MMT will be available in the future so I’m just wondering if this new version will support HRM data? If so, will it show it on the unit and will it show when it is uploaded?

I never really look at the device whilst I’m out biking - no interest in it as I’m happy to get lost and find some new trails - I’m not expecting to want to look at the unit whilst biking when the HRM is on, but it would be good to see some BPM stats and get this data uploaded to the site - for the anoraky-geek in me.

So, if it isn’t already included, can it get added to the feature list please? And is there any update on the android version? It’s great hearing about all these new apps/features that are coming out for the Iphone, but it’s a right pain in the behind that all these features are available for other devices but not contained in a single package for Android.

I say single package for Android, what I mean is a single package that is tied in with the rest of MMT - like OutFront is for Apple.

Thanks.

with the official news that Samsung (running Android) has overtaken Apple in sales surely Outfront on Android is a must…also given that Android phones have nearly 50% market share against the fruity law suiters paltry 19%

In my Garmin, I get distance, cycling time, average speed, average heartrate, calories. You only have distance correct. You are taking distance dividing it by elapsed time and getting average speed over time not over distance. This produces a false cycling average speed. You should be taking cycling time - not elapsed time. Why can’t we have average heartrate shown? And even calories - although is far less important

Also in the RAB hub, why do we have to have other riders times from around the world in the leaderboard? Why not just our own? And why when we hover over an ‘avatar’, does it tell us this is an avatar - rather than the name of the person as it does in the hub?

In the 7 items above, in my estimation you get 1 out of 7. You get the distance correct.

Do you have any list of features that you are currently working on for the mapmytracks.com?

I’m very interested in these features:
- displaying moving time, average moving speed
- trimming points from the track (track has been recorded for too long)
- elevation by distance (elevation graph totaly distorted with long stops during climbing)
- showing all nearby tracks not just recent tracks on map with some kind of “spot” filtering
- comparing activites: synchronizing two similar activities with different starting points

I left my track running too long accidentally, I’d like to be able to adjust that on the map my tracks website, is that a possibility?

Also, is it possible to merge two activities together on the site (for instance I ride my bike to a location, stop the mapping rather than pause it, then upload it, start it again when I leave and stop it when I get home, I’d like to merge those).

Thanks for the latest release of the app for iPhone, which seems to have fixed most of the earlier issues. One thing we would like to see developed is the option to post to Facebook as a Facebook Page. Many users, like us, will have created a page on FB to share their business/organisation/club/charity activities with their fans/followers. Currently, sharing on Facebook posts to the user’s Profile which their followers don’t see.

Hi all! I’m a spanish user of mapmytracks (sorry for my english) and I really like this website.

In some countries, like Spain, the week begins on monday, not on sunday. It would be possible to show monday as the first day of the week?.

Also it would be nice the possibility to show the website in other languages, like spanish :D

Greetings.
