The prestigious Peugeot guide recognised Fontanals Golf Course as one of the eleven best courses in Europe. The golf course is segmented by irrigation channels called ditches, that are part of the traditional farming irrigation system that is still used at present day. These ditches bring the water from the river and distribute it to all the fields in the valley. The usage of such is regulated by “rescloses” (type of gates) that open and close at certain times and days for each field. The water overflows and floods the course taking advantage of its natural slopes. In the centre of the town of Soriguerola we can find the Romanesque chapel of San Miquel dated from the 12th century and since then is the town centre’s crossroads and framework. Its interior contained a fresco at the front of the altar that gave name to Maestro of Soriguerola (fresco dated from the second half of the 13th century and that at present can be found in “museo de arte de Cataluña”).
