We're thrilled to bits to be able to announce that Map My Tracks now plays nicely with Fire Eagle. For those of you not familiar with Fire Eagle it is one of the latest services to be launched by the team at Yahoo Brickhouse which lets you take control of your location data.

It's been a busy time at Map My Tracks HQ. Hot on the heels of upgrading all our servers we are pleased to announce the release of Map My Tracks Mobile version 1.3. This release includes some great new features including location sharing, event tracking and for the first time it is compatible with Blackberrys.

As part of our ongoing programme of improvements Map My Tracks will be offline later today while we migrate to a new server. This will result in the service being offline for at least two hours. Some users may suffer longer down time as propagation completes.

Day three at the Map My Tracks Musto Skiff UK Nationals experience some ideal sailing conditions. A steady force 3 from the north west coupled with saw sunshine saw three races completed. A full run down of the race standings is available from the Whitstable Yacht Club website. Stenhouse still leads followed by Trotter, Dixon and Vincent.

Wow! What a day. A big hat tip to all the sailors that raced today. Day one of the Musto Skiff Nationals saw some extreme weather that turned up just as the first start gun was about to go. Reports of 30-40 mph wind speeds, hailstones and mini tornados make it a memorable start to the event.

Raising money for the Ponseti Clinic at Margate hospital in the UK Lee and Jamie have begun their bike ride from Lands End to Herne Bay. A journey over around 350 miles. They are tracking their progress for all to watch. You can follow their progress live over the next four days here at Map My Tracks.

One of the unexpected benefits of Map My Tracks is that it introduces people to new locations from around the world. Many of the tracks that are being made look to be in glorious locations and Google's satellite map provide a little glimpse of what it might be like on the ground.

Often it's considered to be a backward step when something is removed but in this case that's not true. Today we have rolled out Map My Tracks Mobile v1.2.1 which now has the option to track live without showing a map of your current position. Instead it just tracks you! No map, no fuss.

Two tracks on one screen, replayed together. Well that's what you asked for so we built it. Track comparison lets you choose any two tracks to replay together and compare their performance. For the first time, this new feature allows you to compare against your own earlier activity or better still have a virtual race against someone else! It's a great way of seeing if you've improved or just to compare against a buddy's tracks.

In reality, GPS or Global Positioning System, to be precise, has been around since the '80s and it provides a way for a compatible device to accurately determine it location.
