Version 1.4.6Today we have released an update to the phone tracking software for all supported phones including Blackberry, Nokia, Sony Ericsson and others. It's well worth updating to get some neat new features that makes it even easier to use. It's the latest in a series of changes to Map My Tracks that improve real-time tracking for outdoor activities.

What’s new in this version?

Version 1.4.6 is available for all compatible mobile phones includes a range of improvements that we think you’ll like. Here are eight good reasons to upgrade today:

  • Improved interface design
  • Maps can be turned on or off during an activity
  • Activity type option now available when starting a track
  • Event tracking optimised
  • Elevation data added
  • Clock counter optimised to avoid lag caused by phone’s with a lower memory
  • Current and fastest pace calculation corrected
  • Various minor performance enhancements

As ever, we strongly recommend that all users upgrade to the latest version. Upgrading is easy. To get started simply use your phone to browse to http://www.mapmytracks.com/install and download the latest version direct to your phone. Alternatively, download the latest package to your desktop and install it using your phone’s desktop suite.

is there still no Storm version?

Not yet. This release is an interim step that tidies up some of the features in the current application.

Thanks for keeping an eye on the site for updates. We’ll let you know when we have a version that is compatible with the Blackberry Storm.

This may have been covered but do you think there will be a pause feature added where we can stop a track and resume the same track later? If not, is there way online we can combine different tracks to complete and overall trip?  There are times I would like to stop and resume the same track for example if I am stopping to take on water, food, or for other reasons.  That way I get a more accurate track of my actual push rather than the total elapsed time for the whole event/activity.

We like the idea of a pause feature. I can see that it would be quite useful especially if you wish to take a rest. We are in final testing for the next release so we may be able to sneak this feature in with this release. When it’s ready we’ll let you know.

Yeah the pause function is very handy had that on Sports Tracker on a Nokia N95, but i am still waiting fro the BB Storm version of Mapmytracks.

Awesome. Thank you.  That pause feature we greatly help my training especially on the longer pushes where I may need to stop to reload water, food, etc.
Now the next thing on the wish list is post activity event compilation..the ability to link multiple maps together...Love the product!  Well worth the monthly charge.
