Look! No map in the latest release - v1.2.1

06/05/2008 | Posted by Nick | Comments: (1) | Permalink

Often it's considered to be a backward step when something is removed but in this case that's not true. Today we have rolled out Map My Tracks Mobile v1.2.1 which now has the option to track live without showing a map of your current position. Instead it just tracks you! No map, no fuss.

We’ve added the ‘Show on Map?’ option for tracks so that you can choose to keep your data charges down. Often, when using Map My Tracks during a sporting activity the map isn’t the most important feature and since the map tiles used to show you current position represent a large portion of the data received we thought you’d like to be able to turn it off.

As ever, the latest release is the most compatible version so download it direct from your mobile’s browser at http://www.mapmytracks.com/install

Keep your ideas and suggesting coming. You never know, the next release might include your idea.

I’m still not sure why ANYONE with a Nokia phone would pay for this service, when Sports Tracker does it all for free.  Can you give me some reasons as to why I might?
